So here is my button haul from Amsterdam, for those who've been wanting to know. The rest of you will cause no offence by moving on right now:

Looking at them all now I really *did* go a bit crazy, but I've seen the button selection on offer locally and I knew I might not get another chance like this for a loooong time. My favourites change from day to day; currently I'm really in love with the mottled grey and white ones, but the green mother-of-pearl flowers are close. And the brown horn buttons, the ones that aren't being made any more, are just fabulous in the flesh -- there's one at about 11 o'clock of the big blue mother of pearl, and another about 1 o'clock of that.
So guess what I'm taking with me next time I go yarn shopping?
UPDATE Feb 20: Aha! For once I am at one with the zeitgeist. Yarn Harlot just posted all about her granny's button box; I wonder which of these will end up being passed on to future generations?

Thanks for you reaction on my blog.
About the buttons: I did almost the same when I was in Amsterdam last time. But I bought a bag full of ribbons. Made me happy!
oooooooo! I had the perfect project for the blue buttons! I have to go find some buttons that color. Thanks for taking the picture & sharing.
